Elektra Semiautomatica Water Reservoir

I would be grateful for advice on a problem I am having with my Semiautomatica.
I have had this machine for just over three years.
Recently I have noticed that the zinc (?) lining of the water reservoir is starting to break up, so that the underlying metal is revealed. Originally the revealed metal was grey, but after a descaling is has turn a pinkish red colour as shown in the attached photo.
Is this a health hazard? Is the only way to deal with it to install a new reservoir?
Any help would be appreciated.

The Semi's case is plated brass; and the plating eventually wears. The brass itself is food safe, so the wear is no health hazard. For instance, the boiler and in the HX in the Semi and most espresso machines are made of brass.
Refinishing old Elektra levers and semis, after the coating and plating wear, is a professional job. If you want to do have it done; I think an auto or motorcycle detailing shop would probably be the place to go.

Thanks for the reassurance. Replating the reservoir seems unnecessary. I shall continue to enjoy my coffee.
