Can't give you an answer on fitting the WAFO baskets, but I found out directly from Weber that it does not snugly fit my SworksDesign basket because of its flat lip. I'm assuming baskets with the typical rounded lip will work, but maybe someone out there can tell you for sure. If you have the dimensions of your basket you can go to the WeberWorkshop website and match it up to the dimensions of the Unibasket. As far as depth goes, this is what Weber told me;

"it varies from 24.35mm, 22.35mm, and 12.15mm from the lip of the basket towards the bottom."

So it appears the 10 needles are of three different lengths. Hope that helps you.

Split follow-on discussion to Concerns about member's posts. When to report? with commentary excerpted below:
HB wrote:I remind those contributing to this thread of the site's Guidelines for productive online discussion, notably "Be respectful" and "Encourage positive, shared discourse".

As an obvious example, saying "I think product XYZ is overpriced" is fine. Saying "Anyone who buys product XYZ is a fool" isn't. Sure, you might think they're a fool, but it's disrespectful and counterproductive to "call them out" publicly. Similarly, if you think another member isn't adhering to the spirit of the Guidelines, report the message and moderators will handle it. Calling someone out in the forums rarely ends with "Thank you for letting me know that I am a <insert insult here>, I will try to do better". :lol:

Got an update email from Weber a couple of days ago saying they were ahead of schedule, expecting August preorders to go out third week of July. Then woke up this morning to shipping confirmation with an estimated delivery of next Tuesday!

Will report back if and when I actually have it in hand and have given it a try.

I would still be highly interested to know if the Moonraker would fit a WAFO basket. My focus is less on the depth but more on the diameter and the fit on the rim. Weber just wrote, that the Moonraker should fit all 58mm baskets but that it will NOT fit a WAFO basket: "We do not see any reasons for it to work with the WAFO Basket."
So I am bit confused.

Are they missing the double negative?

I really hope that they are missing the double negative in this quote!

My Moonraker showed up this past Monday. After a week of using the device I'd say it's every bit as good as my manual WDT with six 0.3mm needles. No channeling, no problems. I'm looking for time after time consistency and it delivers. Also I'm getting a level surface which is another big plus, as "raking" the surface level the manual way gets tedious at times.

One thing I have observed in use is that it takes some force to turn the dial. It's not possible for me to spin the dial with one finger, I have to turn it using my whole hand. Have others had the same experience? I have the brass gears so maybe there is more friction...or maybe mine is defective?! :|

Yep, gotta grip the top ring with your thumb and fingers, spin, release, repeat. The Umikot WDT tool has a handle that you can grab and spin until done.

I do this with my right hand but I *also* keep a finger from my left, which is also holding the PF, on the silver ring below the top ring, to keep it from spinning with the top ring. If they spin together the gears don't move, which results in the same problem you get with spinning WDT tools with fixed-location needles. This does't always happen - seems to depend on how well the seal is bt the PF and Moonraker. If any grinds are at the top of the PF rim or in the channel inside the Moonraker it can serve as 'lubricant' of sorts. If I'm diligent about brushing out the Moonraker it's less of an issue.

Not a big deal AT ALL either way. It works great and consistently which is what I was after.
