Synesso gave me a ring this morning to follow up with my machine leak and to make sure I was able to brew coffee this morning. They let me know they already relayed the information to their production floor. Great customer service so far!

Can you adjust the time it takes for the ramp down? Sort of create a leveler descending profile?

Beautiful machine, congrats!
If you run a programmed shot, you can change the shot volume percentage that starts the ramp down. The pump is pretty quick to drop to the selected ramp down pressure. At this point in time, it doesn't look like I can change the speed at which the pump drops the pressure.

I've had mine about a week now, and like it so far.

Setting Manual brew pressures for the 3 stages:
To access the Advanced Settings menu, where you can modify the Pre-Infusion Pressure, Infusion Pressure, and Ramp Down Pressure, you need to go to Settings, then use PIN 4444 (the user guide says 1111 but that didn't work on mine), then select Advanced Settings.

Cup Tray to Portafilter distance:
Yeah, the distance between the portafilter and the cup tray is fairly large. It's nice for making to-go drinks in a taller cup because I can still use my scale, but I'd like to get a cup riser so it doesn't splash so much when I use a shorter cup. For now, my solution isn't exactly the most elegant:

Tea Tap:
I've used the Tea Tap a bit, and it seems to work well. It's nice to be able to set the temperature target, but I haven't checked how accurate it is. One thing I've noticed is when you actuate the tea tap, the initial blast of water comes out fairly forcefully, then it seems to settle down immediately. The result is it kind of splashes out of your cup if you have the cup under the tap when you turn it on. I've had a little better luck making less of a mess if I turn on the tea tap, then put my cup under it. I also have been using the tea tap to rinse my portafilter.

Noise:
I've had a Rocket Espresso HX machine (Cellini Evo. V2) the past 9 years or so, and I'd say the overall noise is a little lower with the ES1. The sound of the pump is different though, the ES1 is a little higher pitch. My old machine had a pressure stat that used to click on and off, which the ES1 doesn't do, but the ES1 will occasionally run the pump for a very short time, like under a second. I'm not exactly sure what it's doing, maybe very short boiler fills or something?

Overall, so far I'm pretty happy with it, and with Synesso customer service too. The user interface software feels like it's still a bit of work in progress, but it's been easy to get in touch with Synesso, and it seems like they're working on software improvements. I waited a while to get the machine, and I think I'm happier having it now even if it means some software updates are still on the way.

Ah hah! Glad to have the 4444 code now. 1111 didn't work on mine either. I did have another code that allowed me to access the advanced settings.

It's a little funny to think someone would change your shot settings without authorization. :D

Could almost fit a fruit and veg scale under there!

I just can't get over the noise, way too loud and intrusive. It also doesn't seem to have the flexibility of the DE1. I'm sure there's something I'm missing here, but I can't see on the face of it why people would choose this over the other available options for any reason other than the Synesso 'brand'.

It looks hundred times better than a Decent. I'm still not convinced one needs all the bells and whistles from a Decent (but then I got a complete opposite, Londinium R), so it's not necessarily worse machine.

Coffee community has always looked for engineering problems and how to solve them, but often overlook what's the end result.

I think we can agree to amicably disagree on which one looks nicer, however I am sure we can both agree that Synesso have taken almost every design cue from the DE1. It looks astonishingly similar.

Give it a few months; Weber will create an upscale combo scale - drip tray. It'll be a bargain, at just under $1500.00
