In Portugal the de facto espresso machine brand is La Cimbali, so much so that in Oporto they call an espresso a "cimbalino" (ceenbaleeno) in homage to La Cimbali.
We just got home from Australia and New Zealand, where Faema has a very big presence. Several cafes and restaurants had LM machines (most either GB5s or Lineas - we only saw one Strada). We even ran into a few Synessos, including a shop with a pair of 3 group units. But we saw no La Cimbalis at all in 2 weeks of coffee crawling.

In Portugal like bluesman says La Cimbalis is in every cafe large and small, even in shops that look like they can't afford such a machine. I only saw one other machine... a two group Rocket and the shots from it wasn't as good.
Looking forward to going back in the spring just for the espresso!
