Should I descale my Expobar Brewtus IV ?

My Expobar Brewtus IV is now around 4 years old with moderate use (4-6 shots a day). From the first day I used water from a Brita pitcher as well as a small resin filter in the water tank which I replaced regularly.
The other day I overhauled the E61 group, cleaning all the valves and replacing the valve seals, shower screen and group gasket.
Everything works perfectly again. Before my pucks were rather wet and there was still pressure when I took the portafilter off, but now it is o.k. again.
Now I wonder if it would be wise to descale the machine as well. I have no problems with the water flow or temperature, but when overhauling I noticed that there was some scale on the mushroom. What is your opinion ? Or should I leave it and don't fix it if it ain't broken ?

Was the mushroom scaled? If the mushroom is scaled, so is everything else, if the mushroom is clean, likely so is everything else.

Have you considered sending your machine in for descale, servicing tuneup etc.? Might be worth the $100-$150 to ensure your machine is running for another 5 years.Ton wrote:My Expobar Brewtus IV is now around 4 years old with moderate use (4-6 shots a day).
