No way. Have they just popped a shroud on an E61 group?

Apparently so.. The guy said the owner sent the machine in due to some fault. It seems that the thermal protection has failed and according to him, the group is a direct transplant from the RS.

Saw this from a Chinese/Taiwanese forum, only sharing what I've read..

It's interesting that the 'Brochure' doesn't say much about or identify the group design. If what we're seeing is true and not just a 'copy', I'd be inclined to feel scammed. I know that's a strong reaction. However that also doesn't mean that the E61 is not a highly capable group making great, exquisite coffee.

I completely agree. I would 100% feel scammed if I had bought one of these. How on earth is it going to be capable of temperature profiling with an E61 group? Why would you buy a machine that implies it profiles and yet relies on an E61 for thermal management? I'm really hoping this just looks similar to an E61, but can't believe there is a logical reason for this being the case.

I mean it looks a bit like an E61, but my E61 sure doesn't have wires going into it at the top? Is it possible it's a modified E61 which uses electric hear control rather than the thermosyphon?

Uh..., E61 has been mentioned for this machine more than once. :|

If it does what it's users ask and make coffee that makes them smile then the goal has been met. There is no requirement that a manufacturer tell you how they got there. By now we know how lots of simple machines work, but when they get more complicated, you tend to get told the expectations, not the method of solving the problem. Decent posts how their machine works, I can't recall anyone else actually doing that, not to say I'm right, just what I remember.

If it turns out to be an E61 group that is approaching the price of a LaMarzocco GS3 - I wouldn't be feeling too good!

If it meets the design goals and does what's been promised, why does it matter how it was done? I lusted over a GS3 in the past, but the way they implemented flow control by bypassing excess water into the drip tray means I've lost all interest. Every machine will have something about it's implementation that seems like it could be better. Find one that makes the coffee you want to drink and don't worry so much about how it got there, unless of course you want to be in the business. Worrying about maintenance makes sense as that will be an ongoing problem but likely something better will come along in a year or three if you really want to chase what todays end game is.
