Rumour of Dual Boiler, PID, Rotary Vibiemme: appears to be true - Page 5

1 C resolution is maybe OK for the display, but not for setting the target for the brew-temp IMHO
Yesterday I asked at a Danish forum about the possibility to change the setting to Fahrenheit and today a new owner told us that it's indeed possible on his European 230v model - He found some menus that others had missed and tonight they all go looking for even better target-resolution hidden in these menus

Hi Abe,Abe Carmeli wrote:It appears that the temperature controller is showing 102 c (215 f). That is obviously brew boiler temperature as opposed to brew temperature - an offset function on the controller would fix that. (this is only a convenience enhancement of course). The resolution appears to be 1c. I hope that the US model will use fahrenheit or have a 0.5c degree resolution. If you bother to use a PID design, why not utilize it.
This has actually been discussed quite a lot on espressobar.dk. The user guide that come with the machine don't say anything about the possibility to switch to Fahrenheit, but actually one of the guys who already bought the machine found that that it is possible. The conclusion from the users on EspressoBar was exactly as you say, that by changing to F you get a detail of around 0.5c. And that should be good enough.
But the PID Controller also has 3 other menus, that are not described. Maybe in some of these menus you are even able to adjust decimals. I have borrowed a machine for a week to test it and make a review of it. I'm trying to figure out which possibilities the menus give.
EDIT: You beat me with a few minutes, Jacob

I heard the rotary plumbed in isn't avail. till this fall? Wish this first version had also been a rotary.
I've now tried to use the machine in Fahrenheit mode. Unfortunately it does not make it more accurate, since you can only adjust it in steps of 2 F degrees

Not just the video quality that looks poor. 34 seconds into the video, the pressure ramps up to 9 bars. By the time the videographer pans back to the shot, just a few seconds later, it's already blonded. Yuck!Gregg K wrote:It's pretty poor quality video, but anything that will calm me in my anxious anticipation is good.

I noticed that as well. It was not an appetizing shot. That PID range does not sound right. We will have to see if there is a difference in the US version, they should be landing soon.RapidCoffee wrote:Not just the video quality that looks poor. 34 seconds into the video, the pressure ramps up to 9 bars. I think we ALL hope so, Dave -- I know I do.
