You may not want to put that dish towel on top of your cup warmer like that. The bottom of a machine has vent slots cut in it. That is so the machine can draw cool air in over the electronics. With the top covered there is no air flow and the internal temperature of the machine will jump, a lot. You could cook the SSR or brain box.

Once upon a time I might have said the same thing. And will still say a decaf is never as good as it was before the poor bean was tortured into giving up it's caffeine. And heaven help the roaster who tries to roast it the same way as regular beans. And it's freshness window is much smaller.DJF wrote:Sorry but I have to say it. I don't care who does the roasting, decaf is crap...it's like trying to enjoy driving a Ferrari with kerosene in the tank.

But let me tell a little story. Have a regular customer with a very good palate. He either gets straight shot or a macchiato depending on his mood and/or our recommendation for a given coffee. We always have our Flagship Delirium blend plus one or two SO or guest blends, plus decaf grinder. One day as he walked in I pulled him a shot telling him it's a new blend I was working on and asked him to rate it on a scale of 1 to 10. He said pretty good but I like Delirium better, I'll give it an 8. I replied gotcha, that's my Decaf blend!

Before and after pictures.
The before was a shot of my Compak K10 WBC, along with my Fiorenzato Doge Conico.
The after is a shot of my Compak K10 WBC, along with my brand new Mahlkönig K30 Vario WBC.
The K30 is the newest version and so far it's impressing me but only time will tell if it's a keeper.
Now all I have to do is find a new home for the Conico.

btw, which setup would you prefer in your home?

I really like these machines. I have the Bezzera equivalent which I obtained by default recently. It's slowly taking over from my Elektra as my favorite.jmreeves wrote:Here is my contribution! I moved the Vario next to the Pasquini so as not to shoot multiple images but normally the Vario is on the other side of the counter.

That setup is beautiful! I wish I could have a table setup like that!
