Hi guys/gals

New on this forum here. Professional barista.

Recently purchased simonelli musica for home use. Noticed inconsistent volumes when using the presets.
Did a test today to see what the problem was.
For my test i pressed the preset without portafilter attached to the machine and measured time and weight of the water it dispensed.

I started with setting the preset to dispense 150g of water at 17s.

1. 123g @ 18s
2. 154.6g @ 17s
3. 125.7g @ 17s
4. 136.2g @ 17s
5. 106.5 @ 17s

Any clue on why the dispensed water is so random? I thought this was a volumetric machine but this just looks like a timer.

Hard to compare a Musica to something like a Linea that you most likely are using or have used. It appears others have noted the same issue.

Good to hear it worked out for you. As you can see I'm a traditional lever guy. Inherent pressure profiling and simplicity makes for me happy.

I am having the quite same issue here with the same machine, i have not measured it like you but i am sure mine is lot worse than this. Seems like you have solved your problem after the link below however it has gone :S not working anymore.

Mine seems like a pump problem i can upload the video tomorrow but if it's a timer problem i'll be more than happy.

Any help would be great.

Thank you.

Hi guys

apparently i didnt get email notifications about the replies in the thread.

The link basically stated that if you run some water from the hot water dispenser it triggers the refilling mechanism in the group head.
If you do that before you pull your shot it dispenses the correct amount.

Hope that makes sense.

I'm having the same problem here. Mine seems to be inconsistent, sometimes I get the dosing I set it to be and sometimes I don't. I have the double set for 38gm out and 19.5gm in. Today for some reason it gave me 70 gm out! Any idea what controls this? I tried the hot water dispenser trick but it didn't work
