New Dalla Corte Mina Owner

Hello,
I'm eagerly awaiting the arrival of my new Dalla Corte Mina and a Mahlkonig E65S GBW grinder. I made the jump from a Technivorm Moccamaster. Although I've enjoyed an ocean of espresso through the years, I've never owned an espresso machine.
I looked at several brands and I kept coming back to Dalla Corte. I particularly wanted an Italian manufactured espresso machine and a German grinder. My gourmet kitchen appliances are Italian and German and I drive Italian and German cars, so it seemed natural...
The flow profiling on the DCM is a rabbit hole that I think I will enjoy exploring. Trying to find perfection in the minutiae of things is always enjoyable and being able to finesse the extraction by various means will keep me excited about the process.
Looking forward to learning and sharing my experiences as a new, rookie (wannabe) barista.
Cheers!

Congratulations on your new purchases. I'm eager to hear your thoughts about both grinder & espresso machine once you get things dialed in. Definitely post a photo.

Thanks for your reply! I feel like an expectant father waiting for the delivery... Will do on the follow up post and photo. It's going to be a stack of fun getting it all sorted.
Cheers!

Your machine will enable you with an infinite number of variable to play with.... If I may suggest, try to likit the variables you play with so that you get to know your machine. Startung to play with flow before, during and after main infusion and temp and tamp and... easily getting lost with those machines is the main culprit. Congrtz!

Thanks for the tips! I wanted to get a machine that I could not easily outgrow... The app allows precision control of specific elements of the extraction and repeatability, once a favourable result is obtained.
It's going to be a blast getting it dialled in... Experimenting with different SOCB's and blends will keep me well stuck in with the fine details. Thanks again and....

I did a similar move way back when and bought a Slayer directly. I realize now it slowed my progression.... I wanted to prevent upgraditis.... Looking back, I realize as you use a machine, you learn, then you change machines based on these learning to select your next one... and you grow as a barista through the process. You can do the same by fixing multiple parameters which... well I didn't do

Thanks for your reply. One of the great things about the DCM is that you can pull simple shots, or very complex parameter intensive shots. It's exceptionally versatile and adaptive to your needs as they change and you grow as a barista.

I'd be leery getting a machine with profiling capability in that experimenting with all the possibilities will lead to caffeine overdose.
Been more than happy with a LS S1. Spaziale and Dalacorte may have been one company in past then broke off. Seems they both use 53mm pf.

Thanks for your reply... I liken the DCM to the car I drive, it is equally at home on a racetrack (even Nurburgring), or puttering around on the "B" roads on a beautiful day as a DD. That hat trick is not easily accomplished!
The Mina is a bit of a chameleon... It can be used at its base functions and pull an easy peasy shot, or you can get stuck in with the minutiae of flow profiling and temperature variables and pull a complex shot.
It will grow with me and be the perfect equipment to have when I get into roasting green coffee beans. It will also do an automated pour over if desired, which is none to common with some machines it seems.
Interesting thing on caffeine, it has little effect on me. It does not keep me awake, or give me a "boost" at all. It never has...

When I got my slayer I thought that would be it, but then I tried bosco. It opened a new dimensionIdfixe wrote:I did a similar move way back when and bought a Slayer directly.
