Lelit Elizabeth V3 arrived today from Cafe Last - an awesome supplier to deal with!
Free shipping, no sales tax outside FL.
Took it out of the box, set it up and pulled a shot with whatever preset was already dialed in to button 1.
Used my Lido E grinder...
Perfect shot, beautiful crema and taste...this is going to be fun.

I have laid it on the machine to remove the gasket, I was nervous but it worked fine. I just removed the water tank first, and laid a towel underneath to avoid scratching the machine.chanty 77 wrote:Thanks for that. Thing is we live in home that was built in 1930. The counter tops are not very deep & the cupboards line the entire counter space--so at this point no easy way. I thought of buying an espresso cart--but kitchen too small for that. Lord willing, we will in the not too far off future be looking for another home. I don't think (not 100% sure) that it is okay to lay it on its back to remove the screen/gasket. I did this with our Gaggia Classic with no problems, but just not confident. I may just have to continue running water through the screen to loosen it.

my shots are showing 10 bar on the gauge, but not sure i should adjust the OPV without confirming via a Scace or from other owners that have done a compare between gauge and scace

Hi all - curious if anyone has tried the generic water filter from Amazon on your Elizabeth. While it is tempting to save a few bucks on shipping I don't want to put my machine at risk over $5 ... listing on Amazon claims "Espresso Machine Water Softener Filter for Ascaso, Isomac, Quickmill, Expobar, Lelit, VBM, and Many More!"

When the Lelit water filters were out of stock for over a month everywhere, I debated on ordering a different kind & chose not to. I change my water filter every 6 months & it was only a couple weeks past that when I was at the 6 month mark. The filters have come in a couple weeks ago at Clive & just a few days ago at 1st Line Equipment. I wouldn't take the chance, but that's me. You can always check with the test strips if it is keeping the water soft enough if you choose to go in that direction.

Thanks. Just ordered a couple from Clive. Seems like the smart option.

That's what I did this time---ordered two instead of just one, and not to rush time by (as it seems to rush by too fast the way it is)--but as I get about 4 months from the second one being due to change out--I will order another two

Of course all machine types will vary by design, but for some time I've been in the habit of doing a plain water backflush after each daily use and check the shower screen/screw often as I like to updose and that bit of puck friction tends to snug the screen more after time. I adjust the screw just to the point of bottoming out against the screen, then a touch more to ensure it doesn't back off. I don't use a screwdriver as that invites much torque to be easily applied and simply use a bit driver and spin with thumb/index finger. Every 2 weeks I do a PulyCaff backflush and soak/clean the screen, dispersion, jet breaker, portafilter as well. Based on my fairly heavy use that works totally fine and keeps the parts in great shape. I mention this as many people tend to stretch the cleaning effort, then the screen gets gunked in place and then extreme measures are taken to get things apart and damage can occur.chanty 77 wrote:I don't do either of these things as often as I should because we house the Elizabeth under cupboards & very difficult to move about. 1. My husband is having a horrible time removing the shower screen. I told him....don't strip it. I always release water out after every shot of espresso. Don't know why it is so stuck. The other issue is the plastic water tank with the quarter size hole. Impossible to clean properly. I just put some dish soap in & rinsed it many times til water clear. The tank is also a horrible tight fit, always afraid of scraping/damaging the water hoses when pulling the tank out. (Did I say a ridiculous tight fit)? Love this machine, but some definite design flaws that for the money should be addressed by Lelit.
Why Lelit continues to use that type of tank design is beyond me, but you never know what some 'engineers' tend to believe as some can't figure out how to tie a shoe. If I had to deal with that I'd likely modify the opening for easier cleaning or come up with a way to do a bit of high pressure/narrow stream cleaning to keep it in shape. Regarding the water line placement rubbing the tank, yeah that seems annoying, but those lines can handle a good bit of friction/heat over time and of course can easily be replaced every few years as they will tend to get a bit dirty regardless of cleaning effort.

Thanks for all this. I backflush every 3 months because I only make one drink per day. I wonder if I should backflush earlier & see if that will loosen the screen--cuz it was tight as could be & we just couldn't loosen it at all.

Was gonna mention one thing that I know helps keep things clean is when doing the plain water backflush I do a portafilter wiggle. As in locking it in, turn the pump on and as it builds pressure slightly move the portafilter left-right a bit to let the pressure build, then release, etc. I do that for maybe 4-5 seconds and turn the pump off. With that excess water in the group area I leave the portafilter locked in place a minute then dump it. You'd be surprised as to how much crud can flush away.
My typical daily use is having the machine on 2-3 hours and average 6-7 updosed doubles. Have stretched the backflushing a bit longer on purpose and that led to the 3-way clogging a bit, so every 2 weeks for my use is fine. Yrs ago I'd do a detergent backflush every week or so, but that's overkill even with my use.
