You can crank up the boiler to above 2 bar and get very good steam for 1 or 2 cappas, i.e. 4 to 8 ounces (125 to 250 cc) of milk. The smaller boiler means it loses pressure for large milk drinks. So if you want to steam large lattes regularly, you might want to consider a 2 or 2.5 liter double boiler machine.

Deeneee wrote:Update regarding noisy plumbed in Bianca:

I searched tirelessly and found (on another blog) that someone was experiencing the same problem with increased pump noise when having gone from tanked to plumbed. That person claimed to have solved the issue by simply unhooking and then re-hooking the plumbing. The result was a quiet Bianca with no knowledge as to why or how.

I tried the exact same thing figuring I had nothing to loose. Lo and behold, I'm pulling shots with a pump as quiet as it has ever been. As with the referent post, I have no idea how this has solved my issue, but it worked and this testifies to the value of these blogs throughout the coffee loving community. Am grateful.

Happy reader!
Hi there - I just plumbed my Bianca in and also noticed the noise level went up *a lot*. May I ask where you unhooked and rehooked the plumbing? Presumably at the elbow joint under the machine, but just wanted to check you didn't mean at the water softening cartridge under the sink etc or something like that...

Many thanks!

Just reporting in to answer my own question.

I unhooked my bianca and rehooked it at the elbow joint under the machine and... suddenly the noise is back to pre-plumbing levels (ie lower noise). I have no idea how/why this worked for me as well. There's magic at work.

EDIT: Also, is there a view from anyone here as to what the optimal water pressure is? Clive instructions say 30-45 psi, but that's a huge range, so wondering if I should aim for the top/bottom/middle of that range.... thank you!

Hi, just saw this now.
Indeed I too unhooked and rehooked at the elbow joint under the machine. Glad it worked for you as well.
With reference to your other query regarding the optimal line pressure, I too was and remain unsure about that as I could not find much information here or elsewhere save on 1st Line (I believe) stating that it should be between 30-45psi. The manual makes no reference to this at all and I am worried about constant line pressure on the machine valves, etc. I opted for the lower range of 30 to be safe, but I would be interested in opinions from other Plumbed Bianca owners.

I went for low 30s as well, I think around 32-35 or so. No idea if it makes any difference etc...

I gotta say it is such a game changer having it plumbed, so much less faffing around. Love it!

I do have to say however that as far as I'm concerned the noise from plumbing it in is still a tad louder than when I was running on tank. Again, not as noisy as the first attempt at plumbing but still noisier especially when compared to videos of shots from tanked Biancas. Would you agree?

Yes, I think that's probably fair? After reconnecting it certainly got quieter - but I think it was still a bit quieter on tank, although the difference is pretty subtle now and certainly not annoyingly loud in my case anyway.

My Bianca is still not plumbed in, but it seems strange that it would be louder than running off the tank. Everyone always mentions that the machines are much quieter once they are hooked up to a water source.

Hello there, I wanted to share my experience of milk frothing with Bianca. Not sure if there is another thread for it or not, forgive me if there is. Maybe you guys could chime in on it. I cannot get micro foam at all. I have tried, different milks. I have tried all kinds of methods. Using smaller hole tip. Still Large bubbles. Anybody could help? Thank you in advance.

Looks over-aerated. The issue is not likely Bianca specific so you probably want to do another thread in the tips and techniques area. There are a lot of YouTube videos on basic technique. Buy lots of milk and practice practice.
