I bought a used S1V1.2 (I call it a 1.2 since I believe it has all of the updates - yes I have looked at the S1 site). Anyway, I decided to tear it apart and clean it all up before using it. Personally I do not think the boilers look that bad, especially the brew boiler. I am thinking of capping all of the steam boiler fittings, filling the boiler with Full Circle descaler then securing the boiler in a bath of water, just below the rim, on the stove so that I can heat the descaler without bathing the entire boiler in descaler. I wasn't sure if the descaler would damage the nickel plating.
