La Marzocco Linea Mini User Experience - Page 181

Hi all,
I'm considering a Mini on the second hand market for around 2800 euros, from 2016. The price seems acceptable to me, but would appreciate any advice on things to look for when inspecting the machine in person.
I also considered a Micra for retail, but I'm very hesitant to get one due to the app. I'd rather have a more analogue experience or at least a machine that doesn't require external control.
Any help is much appreciated!

Anyone have any experience with the Grafikus slayer mod for the Mini? Wondering how difficult the install is and if it's worth the steep price tag.

They talk about the mod you're referring to here: La Marzocco Linea Mini True Preinfusion Flow Mod
Question regarding tightness of shower screen?
I've noticed my pours can become very inconsistent with pours after cleaning the shower screen and re installing, I suspect it has something to do with how tight the shower screen screw is. Using the same coffee sometimes the pour will be perfect pending fiddling with the screw, then I'll clean the shower screen and ill get donut extractions or extreme dead spots.
My grinder is a VL so should be very consistent in terms of workflow. Anyone have any pointers regarding this?

I outboarded the pump 4 years ago and the machine is silent, no more rattling. There's information on this thread about pump outboarding, see #48 New La Marzocco Linea Mini - questionsJaroslav wrote:I had to do that too, I also had to rotate the pump slightly. Didn't do much with vibrations in my case, but certainly helped with noise coming from inside of the machine. I'm all good now, the machine is quiet with the magnets and edge protectors. However, my dad's Bezzera for reference is dead silent, no vibrations nor rattling. I wonder whether something can be done with the way the pump is mounted to the frame.
Thanks! I don't think you have to be honest.
I installed it last year. I am pretty handy, but I felt a little overwhealmed installing it. It took about 5 hours or so. I took my time on it, to ensure I did everything correct. It's pretty incredible now though!habaden wrote:Anyone have any experience with the Grafikus slayer mod for the Mini? Wondering how difficult the install is and if it's worth the steep price tag.

I remove the screen and backflush every Monday, soak and put it back, tightening the screw until the stop. I experience no change in the consistency of my shots and I don't throw out the first shot as recommended either. (My coffee's too good/expensive to be throwing out perfectly fine shots.) I also don't know what you mean about the screw being tight.timothyp wrote:Question regarding tightness of shower screen?

Jake, did you ever find out if the Micra has a orifice between the lower and upper part of the manifold? I thought I read about it somewhere but searches on the subject eluded me.Jake_G wrote:The Micra and mini still mix the preheated water with fresh water, but they don't use the adjustable mixing valve to do it.
On the Micra, there is a manifold that all the water flows through. The bottom half of the manifold has the cold water feed, the expansion valve, and feeds the preheat loop. The top have has the return from the preheat loop, the brew gauge and the feed to the brewing group. It is unclear to me if the manifold has a small orifice between the top and bottom or if it simply acts as a heat sink to temper the water heading to the group.
Hopefully I'll find out soon!
