The Marzocco Linea Mini was/is LMLM, so that couldn't be used.Myrr wrote:Hi - first post and ordered a Micra yesterday. Can hardly wait. Long time lurker.
I have to lead with a silly question - my GoogleFu failed me - why is this machine abbreviated LMLu?
The greek letter µ is used in SI (metric) units for the prefix micro-, so, for example, a micrometre is abbreviated as µm. A micrometre is called a micron (in the USA), and micra is the obsolete plural of micron. Hence LMLµ, courtesy another_jim. However, nobody wants to have to memorize how to get greek letters out of one's computer or phone ... so LMLu.

Got it! Thank you that was driving me crazy.
Well, I look forward to learning and contributing here. Hoping the Micra and Pico (hard to pass up 15% off) show up soon.
Cheers

As stated above. Us coffee people just have to keep things confusing, so we can tell by your lingo how hardcore you are.Myrr wrote:Hi - first post and ordered a Micra yesterday. Can hardly wait. Long time lurker.

Here is a post for those who like to nerd out on tech/IOT. This is not so much about the coffee (I might come back to that once I've had the Micra for longer) as it is about the IOT aspects of the Micra, hopefully it's not too off-topic.
When evaluating the Micra the fact that the IOT support is Cloud-based was initially a drawback for me because it introduces a dependency on the La Marzocco Cloud being fast and reliable, as opposed to direct connection to the Micra which depends only on my WiFi.
Having come to terms with that reality, however, I went ahead and purchased a Micra. I am into home automation so I didn't waste time in connecting it to my Home Assistant to see what information is exposed and what this integration unlocks. I was pleasantly surprised to learn that I can use the Home Assistant phone app to pretty much replace the La Marzocco app. I prefer this because (1) it is more reliable and (2) I already use Home Assistant for a bunch of other IOT devices around the home so I can stay in the one app.
You can get additional info that is not exposed in the LM app, such as the actual brew and steam boiler temperatures instead of just the red/green feedback in the LM app, and the integration also enables a host of possibilities that you won't get out of the box. Some ideas are:
- Automatically turn off steam boiler at 12pm as required by law
- Multiple auto-on periods throughout the day or disable auto-on when no one is home,
- Phone notification for low water in reservoir,
- Prompt to back-flush after a certain number of shots (instead of time-based).
You get the idea... The integration that I used is at https://github.com/zweckj/lamarzocco (no affiliation) in case this piqued your interest.

Had my micra for six months but cannot figure out to increase the brew time. It seems after 45 seconds or so it just stops. With pre brewing it seems sometimes I go beyond that time and want longer shots but not sure where that setting is? It is not in the app.

The maximum brewing time is 60 seconds. I don't think that it can be changed.

Micra was on back order so it was a month wait from ordering to delivery. Unfortunately after unboxing my Micra it appears to be DOA. No power, no lights, no activity.
I am surprised as the machine was bench tested earlier this week and then shipped to final destination. No visible damage on the packaging. No drop sensor in the packaging either.
There is a lack of replacement parts so will have to wait for them to arrive before a technician can address the issue. So far have had a decent experience with customer support, though no ETA.
Luckily it still looks great as a centerpiece in the kitchen.

Might it be a water in reservoir/float issue?

Haha thanks, long time lurker first time poster.
Doesn't appear to be the case. I've been making my own water prior to this with sufficient hardness and minerals and I have also used filtered tap water. Where we are it is outside the acceptable range.
It is also my understanding that the lights would stop come on and the no water indicator would flick on.

Update:
A few speed bumps along the way, after a week a tech was able to make a home visit and inspect the machine.
It seems the connection to the power board had disconnected during transport. Tech was able to fix the issue without needing to replace any parts.
