La Marzocco Linea Micra owner reviews - Page 39
When my Micra is off for an hour it then takes about three minutes to come to temp instead of the normal five. I actually timed it earlier today when I went to use it after it had gone to standby from the morning. Not quite as long as cold but it didn't take as long to significantly cool as one might think.PaulTheRoaster wrote:The break-even on all espresso machines is zero seconds. (It's not going to take 5 minutes to come back to temperature if it is off for 1 minute. It takes 5 minutes if it's been off long enough to reach room temperature.)
There is only one start/stop time per day.
Granted, 100Wh is like $0.01 of electricity, a pittance at that cost to warm up. Maybe $0.02 per hour to keep it at temperature. For someone who is interested in saving energy and their usage is spaced out by a few hours throughout the day, letting it go standby and reheating is going to use the least energy rather than keeping it hot for hours in between.
FWIW, I turned mine off for 25 minutes and it took 80 seconds for the brew boiler to come to temp and 30 more for the steam boiler. That's 1600 watts * 80 seconds + 1200 watts * 30 seconds, which is far less than 240 watts * 25 minutes.espressoren wrote:When my Micra is off for an hour it then takes about three minutes to come to temp instead of the normal five. Yeah, I see what you're saying, it takes only ~45Wh to reheat after it has been off for 25 minutes. Which is really the equivalent energy of leaving it on for 12 or so minutes once it is up to temp.
But then you could do the same thing and see how long it takes to reheat after being off just 12 minutes and surely it would be even less, and so we end up with an answer that we should certainly just turn it off immediately whenever we aren't using it, and I guess that was the point of the earlier post.
I think it defeats the purpose of the question, which isn't about how hard it is to reheat immediately when it is already warm. Depending on insulation and build the numbers could have easily been something like "it takes 400Wh to initially heat but only 100Wh per hour to keep warm", in which case it could be worthwhile to leave it hot for two or three hours instead of letting it cool and firing it up in the afternoon. I wouldn't be surprised if other machines that take a good 30-40 minutes to come to temp are like that - better to keep them hot then let them go to room temp and come back four hours later and start over.

Mine arrived yesterday

I'm from the UK so I ordered it Friday 20th Jan and it arrived Saturday 28th Jan.
I have had an Expobar Leva machine for about 8 years but there have been a few issues with the pressure dropping recently plus I had upgraditus and wanted a new one to match the new grinder.
There is a slight chemical smell but after leaving the machine on for a day it seems not to be as strong today as it was yesterday. I connected it to the app, not a problem. You have to pull the first shot to enable the schedule option but no issues connecting to the machine at all. Steaming milk is done in about 5 or so seconds compared to the 20-25 seconds on the Expobar.
I need to do some more testing and playing about but it seems the coffee is coming out the portafilter a lot quicker than it was on my old machine. It took about 10 seconds on the old one to see the coffee but on the Micra, it's there in about 3 seconds after turning the lever on. When I measure it though it is reaching 36g of espresso in 27 seconds so it seems right on point. I could be wrong.
No water testing kit though so I have ordered one off Amazon which should be arriving today. I have seen some people post they received on and others haven't.
A couple minor points on the app and auto-startup/standby
It wasn't clear to me before getting it, but the auto-standby timer doesn't start until you pull a shot. So for example this morning I had it auto-start at 6:45 with shutdown not set until 10am and standby set to kick in after 30 minutes. Thankfully, children slept in a bit this morning, and it was still ready when I got to it at 7:45. Pulled a shot then, and 30 minutes later went into standby.
Like others, I've found that the warm up after being in standby for an up to an hour or two is still faster than the first one of the morning. Short enough that I don't really think about it (it isn't often that I need anything other than the first shot of day ready immediately)
Overall this seems much better than my prior machine on a smart outlet that didn't have a standby mode. That would come on at 5:30am to hopefully be ready by 6, then stay on until early afternoon. I'd often find the contents of the cabinet above the machine were quite warm by the time it shut off.

Whoa! I placed my order 53 days ago (but who's counting), 12/7/2022, and still no shipment notice. Still within that 6-8 week timeframe and was prepared to wait. (light blue)imbenanderson wrote: I'm from the UK so I ordered it Friday 20th Jan and it arrived Saturday 28th Jan.
Interesting. So during the scheduled time, yours will only enter standby if you pull a shot. I use the schedule just to warm up the machine, and it does still go to standby mode at the scheduled end time if I haven't pulled a shot.m_b_b wrote:It wasn't clear to me before getting it, but the auto-standby timer doesn't start until you pull a shot. I have a schedule to start at 8am and shut off at 11am. It turns on at 8 and stays hot until I pull a shot, in which case auto standby timer kicks in, or until 11am.
It would kind of defeat the purpose for it to have an auto-on schedule from 8-11am but shut off at 8:20 due to auto-standby. The way it is now works perfectly! Stays hot until I use it then the standby timer takes over.

Those of you who have placed an order from lamarzoccousa.com, was your credit card charged when the linea micra shipped or when you placed the order?iploya wrote:Whoa! I placed an order a few weeks ago, and my card was charged the day I placed my order.
