Hi, I have about 1 year old GS3, I noticed at idle the brew boiler pressure drop to 3-4 . It used to stay between 8-12. I don't see any leaks, I can not hear any hiss.
When brewing it works fine .
Any idea what to do ?
Is it normal
Thanks

Are the numbers stated in Bar?
Are you direct plumbed, on reservoir or something else?

Hi,
In Bar, plumbed in
Using a bestprotect filter.
Thanks

8 to 9 Bar static line level pressure is quite high. Do you have an in-line pressure regulator with gauge?

3-Bar would be a good pressure level to maintain.

My line pressure is 3 bar, the machine will go up to 12 then start drifting down over 2-3 hours to line pressures.

Sounds perfectly normal.

So it's normal when I leave it idle the pressure drops to 3 bar ( line pressure), I wonder what other GS3 owner reading will be after the machine is on for few hours.
Thanks

Are you seeing drips into the drain box?

My expansion valve is set to 11.2 bar or so and my pump pressure is set to 6 bar. As soon as I power it on, the pump usually tops up the boiler and my pressure lands flat at 6 bar. Then it bumps up to the expansion pressure and sits there until I pull a shot.

After a shot it is hard to predict where the pressure will settle, but it is generally at or above my pump pressure. I'd suspect you have a very small leak. Is the machine an AV or MP? In either case, steady drips from the right side of the drain box indicate your expansion valve is leaking and drips from either the group itself (rare but possible) or the left side of the drain box indicate a leak in the brew valve.

Here's a shot showing normal drips during heat up from the expansion valve:

And here's normal drainage from the brew valve after pulling a shot:

It is normal to see drips like this during warm up and after pulling a shot, respectively. However, you should not see any drips from these areas when the machine is sitting idle.

Cheers!
