Yes, with that amount of coffee it builds up a lot of resistance. I also tried about 28 grams in a triple basket on my Strega but it is just a waste of coffee to me since it never became as tasty as only using 16 grams. You do have to grind considerably coarser with such a large dose. I also got more crema and better mouthfeel once I coarsened up the grind although flow was not much slower than on the lower dose.
