Easy way to remove La Marzocco Linea Mini water reservoir for cleaning?
Cleaning reservoir on the La Marzocco Linea Mini?

I wanted to reply to these old posts, but they were too old to reply to. I have DIY'ed a way to easily remove the water tank from the Linea Mini. It allows easy refilling and cleaning. IMO this is one of the biggest let down with the LM. In the instruction manual, La Marzocco says the water tank needs to be cleaned monthly to limit algae. However, there's no easy way to remove/install the tank. The exiting barb hose is not meant for repeated removals/installs, certainly not monthly for the years of life on the machine.

To easily remove the water tank, I spliced in a 1/4" barb valved quick connect (valved meaning that water will not leak out when disconnected). I have been using this for a couple months now, and am quite happy with the quick connect. It is easy to remove the tank to refill and clean. There have not been any leaks, even when I remove the water tank (because it's valved on both ends). If I were to change anything, I would splice in the quick connect closer to the water tank right angle plug. Right now there is not that much room for the hose+quick connect under the machine (see pictures below).

These are the 2 halves of the quick connector:
