Changes in Europe, and I assume in Australia as well, recently have made it so manufacturers will not mention anything about consumers accessing the insides of any electrical appliance. Whether it is liability, legality, or a combination of both, that is the way it is now. Blame who you like for this, but there you go. Even here in the states, we have long seen "No user serviceable parts inside" stickers on appliances that we have opened and fixed, so this attitude is becoming universal. Me? I already have my set of security driver bits.
In this particular case, if you have ever descaled a HX machine or the steam boiler on a DB machine, you may have learned what happens when you forget to open the steam valve and actuate the pump. Almost immediately the safety valve opens and sprays acid inside the machine. It makes a mess and is not good for electrical connections and other living things.
If they cared, it would have been an easy matter to create a descale in the electronics that selected a secondary water level sensor that would descale above the normal water level, but low enough to not cause the safety valve to open. Or, they could have plumbed the safety valve into the drip tray.

Williams Sonoma in Vancouver has the unit on display. They are supposed to call me when the demo unit comes in that I can actually try out. I shudder to think what they will have on hand for beans I'll probably bring my own.

A friend just got one of these, and I tried it out this past weekend. It seems like a very nice machine, with great features. We never really got it dialed in the way I wanted, but it does seem capable. The steaming is slower than my Vetrano, but I did make good microfoam, and actually did some latte art that looked like something.
If this machine turns out to be reliable it will be a great addition.
