I need some updated roasters and coffees to try... So thought an updated thread might help get some ideas flowing.

A recent notable espresso for me:
Temple DR Congo Muungano Natural Single Origin Espresso
https://templecoffee.com/collections/si ... n-espresso

for those that like a balance of a medium roast that has of nice thick body, chocolate, spice and a very interesting fruit leather / "fruit by the foot" component that comes through.

I've got a new machine recently so I've been spending a fortune on new beans trying to find the holy grail. And tho I haven't tried Apollon or Dak yet, I've realized I have an absolute favorite and must have. It's not artisinal or expensive but it's my benchmark.

Grabbed a bag from our local Temple. Good description of the flavors. It also does quite well as a lungo.

Which machine did you get?

I got a Lodinium Vectis, and I love it. I am finding it extremely hard to pull a bad shot on a lever no matter what coffee I try. But Speeder's guatemelan is still my go to. Shots are thick and creamy with slight chocolate and spice finish.

for Speeder's guatemelan, I know it mentions "roast: full city", but would you characterize it has dark? visible oil showing on outside of beans?

It's definitely not a dark roast. No oil visible on beans. But if you like a dark roast with visible oils try this Antigua. Smokey, velvety darkness. I tried it recently. They say all their coffee is medium roast but this was a pretty oily bean, which I don't usually buy.

Funny how different opinions on roast level can be. As a light/medium drinker my first reaction to that photo was that it was incredibly oily!
