Friendly folks, too. I had some reasons to move to mostly drip for about 3 months. When I placed my order last week, they sent me an email welcoming me back, they had noticed my absence. We emailed back and forth a bit, etc. It's extra nice to deal with nice people.

It can feel a little risky buying 5lbs for your first order, so if you have a couple or four friends to divvy up the order that can work.

They recommend grinding a bit finer than usual, and a higher temp than typical -- I've found that to be a good recommendation.

FWIW - WLL has a 1lb bag of Malobar Gold. They buy the greens from Josuma and (supposedly) roast it to Josumas specifications. I bought the 1lb bag from WLL before my first order from josuma, but I confess now I totally forget how closely the two matched up.

Stumptown is FAR from great. I would recommend 5+ shops there over Stumptown.

1. Solo Espresso
2. Cherry
3. Mammoth
4. Congregation
5. Hivolt
6. Revelator
7. Spitfire
8. Mojo

These are better.

I still disagree. I have good coffee from every Stumptown I have visited and their accounts. But I moved on and haven't gone to one in few years. I have had amazing coffee from Stumptown joints in Portland and Seattle. \

Thanks for sharing great spots to try in New Orleans.

When I visit if ever, I will reference the list. I rarely make it it big cities so seek out smaller venues. Do you frequent the New Orleans Stumptown location to be able to criticize it so definitively?

The few times I had it was enough to never go back. Below average. Bad for specialty. Speaking only for NOLA.

wait wait wait....
aren't we talking apples and oranges?

It sounds like Johnny is saying that the Stumptown cafe in NOLA isn't up to snuff, but that doesn't mean that Stumptown roasts aren't good....does it?

What have you tried from Five Elephant? It's on the La Marzocco subscription this month.
