This is a first for me. I found an actual stone in my beans, thankfully I spotted it in the hopper before it went into the burrs!

I know small stones and foreign objects can show up. Still, I experienced a mix of shock (at the size), relief (that I caught it), along with a touch of humour...after all, it's about the perfect size to disguise itself as a coffee bean!

To answer the inevitable question: this was in a tin of Illy Classico. Yes, yes,'s passable-quality at best and blasphemous in the specialty coffee world. But it is a relatively forgiving bean and makes an okay Americano. (I'm currently without a drip brewer...Moccamaster is on its way!)
