Why don't roasters put rest on the bag along with the DTT* rec's?

* DTT : Dose Time Temperature
Some do. For example, my latest bag of barismo reads:

________________________
zone 10
espresso
a blend of two washed coffees
guatemala buena esperanza 70%
guatemala el bosque 30%
roaster: (roaster's initial) roasted: (hand-written roast date)

200.5 18g/double
26-28s 1.75oz (27g)
best rested 7-12 days of roast

Thanks for the recommendation. Ordered a bag of the Dogwood Espresso as well as some Tchembe last week. Both have been outstanding. The dogwood has been great, I have not had one bad shot, been nailing a perfect pour every time. It's bright, but not overwhelmingly so. An ideal espresso, IMO. The Tchembe has been excellent as wood neck, and I have it basically dialed in for espresso. Will probably make a vac-pot before it runs out.

Highly recommended.

Glad to hear of another Dogwood fan. It remains a favorite espresso. They had a French Bourbon from Kenya for a while earlier last fall that was amazing.

This reminds me: I'm due for another order soon!

I just upgraded to and received a QM Andreja last Friday and be drinking my usual C.C Tuscano and LaForza, but I also drink Nostromo from Deep Cello. But I was wondering if Intelligentisia Black Cat is worth the extra $3.00 over the others. I usually drink straight shots but now with the new machine I can start drinking milk drinks if I want. Thanks for any input.

Living in California I saw a lot of my personal favorites e.g. Blue Bottle, Ritual, Verve...etc. I didn't see any (or a least not enough) Michigan roasters. So, if you haven't tried it yet I'd recommend Mad Cap located in Grand Rapids. Really great coffee and even better people.

Gary, as with ALL things involving taste, there is no "right" (or wrong) answer to your question. Some people love Black Cat; some people do not. This is, of course, true of any specific coffee (or wine, or chocolate, or -- I don't know -- cuts of steak, whatever!), so only you can decide if Black Cat is worth a $3/lb. premium.

Cheers,
Jason

I see the list has very few coffee roasters in China, so I will add my local roaster!

Blooom... Coffee House, in Macau S.A.R China

The owner is an uber-coffee-geek, a certified SCAE trainer, and a great guy. I am lucky to have a connection to seriously good beans and coffee conversation again. :D
