Freeze upon delivery...I will allow maybe 1 centimeter or 2 for space for the degassing. The's jars won't explode, or at least never have in the 5-6 years I've been freezing. The coffee may age the equivalent of a day or 2 while frozen, thus, just pull out a jar a day or 2 before you need it, let it thaw, and later expel any gas. This is my normal procedure for all coffees purchased online.

I ordered a pound of Malabar Gold from Bean Central Coffee Roasters. It was so over-roasted it's undrinkable. I emailed them twice, asking them what they recommend; refund, send it back so they could examine it for a replacement, send me another pound... No reply. Nothing. They won't even respond. Look, it's only over-roasted beans, not a very big problem in life. As I stated in my email to them, companies aren't perfect, they make mistakes, but you gotta respond to a polite email if a customer respectfully asks for help. Ignoring a complaint is always worse than the initial mistake. Oh well, I've already got some beautiful Verve Ethiopian in the grinder.

I emailed them. They only wholesale in 5 lb bags and he directed me to Bean Central for a 1 lb purchase. Not an indictment of the beans, just the roasting. Maybe I'll find someone local and split an order directly from Josuma.

It's usually a good idea to avoid roasters like Bean Central that prominently advertise flavored coffees. They do claim to offer a 100% satisfaction guarantee.

Just FYI, the Josuma roasting instructions that come with green Malabar Gold warn you not to over-roast this blend. I had good success roasting it to the very end of first crack and resting it for 3-4 days. I realize that you don't home roast but I thought I'd pass along my experience.Christo wrote:I emailed them. They retail in 5lb bags too. It is $60 shipped. Compared to Bean Central's $23 shipped for a single pound . Freezing coffee really really works guys. No joke.Christo wrote:I emailed them. Josuma sells in increments of 5 pounds, but you can choose either 5 pound bags or 5 one-pound bags. I choose the one pound bags, freeze four on arrival. Works great.Christo wrote:I emailed them. How long will the beans stay fresh in the freezer? I just pull a shot a day. 5 lbs would take me months. Would I still be getting crema after a couple of months?
