Hi David, good to hear form you. You found an entirely different irony in my post; I meant I have a hard time knowing where I put the coffee. But it's also true that there's fewer interesting coffees for me, whether from losing my taste, or from gaining too much experience

You guys are funny <g>
Back on topic- How many of YOU subscribe to CoffeeReview?
Like the OP,I have been tempted to subscribe but my sense, between chuckles, is that this august body of coffee aficionados does not think all that highly of CoffeeReview which seems to have an undertone of commercialism.

My definitions.
Middle age: you go into another room to do two things, and you forget the second after you do the first.
Old age: you go into another room to do one thing and forget why you're there.

Old age is when you not only forget where you put something, you forget that you have it all all.

It is my official position that I have never once (or more than once) purchased something that I had forgotten that I already owned. I've heard that some losers do that sort of thing, but not me, no sir, no way....

For instance, the notion that yesterday I discovered a Fuji Instax Wide instant camera and a few packs of film in cabinet that I had forgotten about and since purchased it again? Pure fake news and dastardly leaks. Obviously I had not forgotten about it, my subconscious just decided I needed a second one, you know, for backup or something like that.

To respond to the original topic (now that I've stopped laughing), I've subscribed to coffeereview.com for about a year (but am otherwise not affiliated). I don't have that sophisticated a palate and don't necessarily nor always agree with their score, nor find all the same flavor characteristics they do, but I do find their reviews to be a helpful part of the information I consider when deciding on something new to try. Plus at $24 for an annual subscription, it's not that expensive, and they are currently giving new subscribers a $20 coupon for coffee from Paradise Coffee Roasters.

Just as I have never purchased something from a thrift store only to realize it was the second time I'd bought that item from a thrift store.

I wouldn't bother with coffee from Paradise Roasters. Just received their Hawaiian nano lot after seeing them on coffee review and it was absolutely disappointing given the rating. It was also a 2016 rating so maybe they are using past crop.

Also just received two JBC coffees with high ratings and as a q-grader I would say their rating system is definitely 7+ points too high.

I wouldn't write them off based on one variety. Their S.O. Espresso Thai Doi Pangkhon this year was super tasty. One of the memorable standouts.

I've gotten some very good coffees from Paradise including their Brazil Santa Ines which I'm currently using for espresso. If you've gotten something from them recently that you weren't happy with you should contact them & give them a chance to make it right.
