Look, you both make compelling arguments, but Christopher has an ever so slight edge in vying for my consumer dollar at the moment.
I have to confess that I don't really "get" the blend. Specifically, I don't understand if it's supposed to appeal to people who want something like a rich, chocolatey, comfort food, lower acid, higher body type cup ... or not?

Since you've been a member for a long time, for now, I'll look the other way, but hopefully you fully appreciate that promoting your Kickstarter project on HB clearly falls within the bounds of a commercial post, which isn't allowed.archipelago wrote:Hi all, thanks for your support of the project. I've got about a week left in the campaign and a ways to go toward the ~$80k in total startup costs. I'll do what I can along the way to make it worthwhile for those who backed the Kickstarter.
For reference, this is noted in the site's terms of service and in Vendor participation in the forums. If you wish to discuss your commercial endeavors without these restrictions, become a sponsor and use the Marketplace. Thanks.

Christopher, this is an extremely offensive and pejorative epithet to level against those of us who happened to be born during a certain time period. How could you possibly view it otherwise? I urge you to reconsider this ugly name for your coffee, and stop using "boomer" as a descriptive term for espresso.archipelago wrote:As I noted in email to Alan: I believe you're referring to "Boomer Remover" which was the gen Z nickname for covid-19.

Hey Luca, there's an update scheduled for I think 2 days from now which will illuminate this now that the coffee is actually known and contracted. It's a single origin coffee from Guatemala which will be roasted to present with mild tropical fruit acidity, caramel sweetness and milk chocolate.luca wrote:Look, you both make compelling arguments, but Christopher has an ever so slight edge in vying for my consumer dollar at the moment.

What is it I'm missing about a product named "boomer eraser"? From your kickstarter website:archipelago wrote:John, I note you quoted my reply incompletely and out of context.
In addition to the above, we will feature (year-round and always available to order) a coffee we're calling Boomer Eraser-a more developed single-origin espresso created in collaboration with coffee growers with a milk-drink destination in mind.

This is the relevant part of my reply:
Honestly, if the usage defining this style of coffee offends you I'm not sure we'll see eye-to-eye on this in the near term which makes it a difficult conversation to have, particularly in this venue.I'm referring specifically to a style of espresso that's come to be known as "boomer shots" (traditional ristretto or 1:2 shots pulled in 25-35s at 9 bar). This coffee is not designed for that application and the justification and protocol will be clearly detailed on the website.

Yes, I consider using "boomer" to describe a type of espresso as offensive, ageist terminology. Imagine the $hitstorm that would follow if you used a racist or sexist term. Call it "classic" or "traditional" espresso instead.archipelago wrote:Honestly, if the usage defining this style of coffee offends you I'm not sure we'll see eye-to-eye on this in the near term which makes it a difficult conversation to have, particularly in this venue.

I hadn't heard the term "boomer eraser" and had to search. It led to articles like this one explaining the meme COVID-19 'boomer remover'. If the excerpt below from the Kickstarter page is alluding to this usage, then I agree with John, that's offensive. If it was an unintentional reference, renaming it as John suggests would be a good idea.
That point aside, I haven't failed to noticed that "boomer" has become common to use it as an ageist, dismissive term for someone outside the current generation (as in "Whatever, boomer"
).
