I am liking Hatch's Red Lotus quite a bit. It's very aromatic of cherry/fruit while still some chocolatey notes. I like it as a straight up espresso shot but didn't find it was as good as an Americano. I also tried making a couple lattes with it but I didn't get the sweetness from the milk with it as I was hoping for a more 'traditional' taste but with some of the fruit flavors coming through. I'll have to experiment with grind size more if I want to pursue milk drinks further with the Red Lotus but so far haven't felt inclined as there are tried and true blends for that.
I agree. I loved the Luna Los Guacheros and this month I ordered the Ildefonso Córdoba, both produced in Hulia. Both taste amazing in my cupping. The first was consistently excellent in espresso, while the latter is proving more challenging (as espresso). Maybe I need to let it rest longer, though its been over a week already.espressosnob_LT wrote: Hatch has been on fire recently. Now September. But also Rogue Wave, Luna & Monogram are also up there !!!
Hi - has anyone tried Prototype Coffee in Vancouver as espresso? Reviews seems good but the coffee is super expensive for 250g of coffee and it honestly comes off as a bit pretentious so I'm worried I'll pay for marketing primarily. Priced out two 250g bags shipped to me and it came to just under $70 with a flat $10 shipping rate.

Little shop here in Montreal, Nous Sommes Café, serves Detour Dark on their Slayer and Peak. Great dark roast, I always stop in when around.
They are my favourite roaster in town, so i get beans from them every few months and brew mostly espresso. I haven't been there lately, so I don't know all their current offerings, but the last time I had the Fazenda Kaizen I thought it was great.exidrion wrote:Hi - has anyone tried Prototype Coffee in Vancouver as espresso? Curious, if anyone has found anything in Canada that is very similar to Vivace Dolce.
Nothing "dark" from the many roasters I've tried is like what I remember Dolce to be like.
