Anyone know a cafe in NY state that is pulling shots with the Slayer machine? I live upstate, but can visit the city. I'm interesting to seeing what the hype is about...

Kru in Saratoga Springs is using Slayers. That being said, their coffee is roasted a little bit darker which mutes a lot of nuance that these machines may have to offer (flavor wise)

They're nice machines, but without a great coffee, industry standard grinder and good water chemistry, there isn't much difference between a shot you could pull on one and a Silvia IMHO.

Where upstate are you located? Glen Edith in Rochester has Slayer machines at their shops, and I believe Character Coffee in Utica was looking at Slayer for theirs, but they haven't opened just yet to my knowledge.
