Made a good decision to stop by New World Cafe in Raleigh, NC last weekend. Even better luck was the owner Mike Zhu was there and being a home espresso barista newbie, I asked him if I could ask questions/discuss all things coffee and espresso. Not only was he gracious in engaging me, but demonstrated and stepped me through his techniques and recommendations on how he makes espressos and things I should look out for and try. Super nice guy and great tasting espresso double and a cappuccino (from their super nice Slayer machine)! My wonderful wife just sat back and enjoyed a Latte while we geeked out on coffee. He even sold me some of his special espresso blend from Black and White roasters of Raleigh - that and some Gamatui Natural from Uganda, which were both really good (though my straight espressos at home didn't really come close to his....more to learn).
