Anyone ever been here or ordered their beans? I'd like to visit but wondering if it's a tourist trap...or truly fantastic espresso.

They have a weird method of making the whole shot look like whipped crema  . How do they do this? Are they brewing in a unique fashion?

I think they put some calcium carbonate on top of the puck just before locking and loading the portafilter. That's why they have the side shields on the machine to obscure the customer's view.

It is interesting in terms of mouthfeel but the flavor is very missable. FWIW my favorite shots in Rome were at Er Caffetiere, in Monti.

I visited them back in 2015- and still have fond memories! As I recall, they had crazy crema. Also, default was that they add sugar to the espresso served at the cafe. Nice cups, too!

We have tried to rebuild that 'crema' and what comes close is cold (brew) coffee mixed up with icing sugar, you'll need to incorporate a lot of air.

Thanks for the tip! I'll check them out when I visit next year.

Thanks!

We were there this summer, it was good but we found Tazza d'Oro to be better. It's only a few block away, right on the other side of the Pantheon.

But definitely go get a slice of pizza at Roscioli. It's a ten minute walk south.

I visited Rome in 2015 and I agreed with you that I like the La Casa Del Caffè Tazza D'oro more.
