Um, Chris? Is this going to be like a rave, where we get a number to call at the last minute and are told where to go? I keep checking here and on the blog for the address.

Best,
David

Careful... you might be walking into a light switch rave. :D

I'm really jealous of the roasters being represented and wish I could make it, as this sounds like a great experience, but imagine that this ain't cheap. Is this a "yeah, these guys are gonna hook me up" deal, a pay-for-play sponsorship, or is someone footing the bill?

I'm finalizing details right now. But it's absolutely going to happen.
Address, time etc will be posted by EOD today.
List of confirmed roasters is on my blog.
Note: While the roasters are confirmed, the coffees haven't all arrived yet so it's possible that some might not be able to be included in the end.

It's also confirmed that we do, in fact, have some sweet "prizes" donated by the roasters etc. These will probably be given away through a drawing of some sort.

When you all see the coffees we're going to be cupping you'll flip.
This might end up being the single best cupping table I've ever seen.

Full transparency here...
Roughly 85% of the cost is being carried by the roasters themselves. This is the cost of almost all the coffee, the prizes, shipping, etc. But they are not sponsoring this through any cash involvement at all. No-one is making a penny off this.
About 10% is kindly covered by Doug at Fullsack. This is equipment and facility and infrastructure costs.
The final 5% or so is coming out of my pocket. This is supplies and misc.

Cost to attendees is $0.

This is astonishingly generous. Do you want any of us to show up early to help set up, or stay after to clean?

No need to help with set-up, but if folks want to help clean up after that would be much appreciated.

Chris,

I took a look at your blog and the list of coffees we'll be sampling is long and deep!

What equipment will we be using besides cupping spoons? I'm guessing too much disparate equipment for sampling all those different coffees would bring too many variables into the picture.

I look forward to meeting many of you in person.

For what it's worth - it's the roasters involved who are truly being generous here.
There's been a fantastic response from them.

The cupping results we report back to this forum should help them sell/ship some beans.

OK.

We're on for this Saturday morning - starting around 9:30am.
The address is 959 Natoma (Natoma between 10th and 11th).
When you get there, ring the front door bell for entry.
If you run into issues, the land line in the space is 415 552-3655.

We have sufficient supplies for those who sent me RSVPs.
If you want to come and have not sent me an RSVP, please PM me and I'll see what we can do.

The coffees are starting to arrive.
Got coffees from Tim Wendelboe (Oslo, Norway), 49th Parallel (Vancouver, BC), Barefoot (Santa Clara, CA) and Olympia Coffee (Olympia, WA).

This is going to be really cool.
