A new coffee shop opened in Orange County, Calif, Raised by Lions in Tustin. They are serving locally roasted coffee, looks like mainly Hidden House Coffee. I'm curious if anyone has checked them out to see if it's worth stopping next time I'm down in the OC.

Haven't had a chance to go by yet but haven't really been too intrigued, either. HH is a fine roaster but I just haven't seen any posts from RBL that suggests they'll serve up anything better than what appeals to a mass market. Not really the 3rd wave kinda shop that I might like, from all appearances.

I did notice a lot of fancy milk based drinks in the photos of their Instagram stream. I admit nothing jumps out to suggest that they're particularly obsessed with straight shots or black coffee pour-overs.

I'll check them out the next time I'm near there, but nothing seems to stand out in particular. Kean's and Portola Coffee are both within a mile or two of that location and likely offer better experiences.

White Sparrow in Tustin is gonna be a better bet than Kean (and probably better than RBL, is my guess), but the best around, while a few more miles away, is Hopper & Burr in DTSA.

I swear these names get dumber and dumber as time goes on.

A shame really if it's a good place too.

+1 for Hopper & Burr. They're currently brewing coffee from Sey and my girlfriend and I had a wonderful cappuccino and Americano made with their house made tonic water. Thanks for the recommendation!
