Pikolo Espresso is good, and not too far of a walk from Old Montreal.

You can download th3rdwave app. It will give you a map of the coffees in Montreal and a little description for each of them.

I've always had great coffee and service at Caffe in Gamba on Avenue du Parc. Nice bean selection as well.

+1 for Caffe in Gamba on Avenue du Parc (5263 Avenue du Parc), although it's a little further up town north of Old Montreal. Nice area to explore for coffee and other Cool/Hip things.

You might also pop into 'Waxman House' (4605 Avenue du Parc) along the way for a shot of espresso as well.

I know this is off topic but while you might be in this area, if you'd like to feel that you've died and gone to Heaven try a World Famous Montreal Smoke Meat sandwich at 'Shwartz's Hebrew Delicatessen' 3895 Boul. Saint-Laurent & Montreal Bagels at 'St-Viateur Bagel' 263, rue St-Viateur O. - Then you'll know that you've been in Montreal!

Hope you have warm(er) weather!

If you have the time, I'd be interested to hear how you make out. I will be headed to Montreal in June.

There's a Caffe Olimpico in the old port if you're looking for a traditional 1st wave Italian espresso. In one of the hotels. Which one escapes me.

I found myself in the Plateau section after lunch and went to The Standard Plateau. The americano and the cappuccino were excellent. The barista was friendly and talented. Definitely recommend it.
