Long shot here. Going to be in the Yucatan (Merida area, not Cancun, God forbid) and Campeche in January and February.

Any shops to recommend?

I frequently visit the area, Recommendations in Merida:
For Espresso and Pour Over
- Manifesto
- Dilan
- Nitido (Tierra de cafe)
- Lote Unico

Just for pour over
- A Metodo
- Galeron MID (Favorite)
- Maria y Montejo

You'll mostly find Mexican Coffees at Medium Roasts, I don't know any specialty coffee in Campeche

Thank you, thank you. Manifesto is close to where we will be staying.

I pack a collapsible pourover arrangement and some pre-ground home roasted coffee. We travel light so might buy a kettle. But I love to visit shops.

OT: Don't miss the amazing Mayan ruins at Uxmal/Kabah/Sayil/Labna (in Yucatan) and Edzna (in Campeche).

Hey John, get ready for a Feb/Mar meetup, K?

We visited Uxmal on a previous trip to Merida. Absolutely love the city. Safe, great energy, markets, few tourists. I love to visit the churches and study the interiors. Wife will be at the pool with a book. I will be reading Mayan history shortly. Read one prior to our last Yucatan visit.

We have a bunch of one day trips on the bus planned. Will be "high class" compared to the buses we rode all over Honduras. Will take a look at your recommendations. Thanks.

Blue Bag Coffee

Calle 55 #543 Col. Centro
Mérida Yucatan
Mexico

It was better than I thought, regular AND decaf.
Sorry we didn't come home with more coffee than we bought!

Owned and run by an Australian expat of all things.

I dream of visiting Yucatan someday. It and Mexico City are very high on my next trip radar. I have David Sterling's amazing Yucatan cookbook that I need to work thru more.

We visited Mexico City for our 20th anniversary and Merida for our 25th. If visiting Mexico City, the Museum of Anthropology is out of this world. 8 floors and I only got 3 complete in a day.

COVID messed up our 50th anniversary trip to Europe so we are pretending our trip to the Yucatan and Campeche is our 50th.
