I can bring the Mon Con if needed. I also have a Super Jolly with SSP burrs that has a decent alignment job if anyone is interested.

Trust your taste. Don't trust your perception.

Prairiedawg, as mentioned in equipment list original post (which I will update regularly up to time of get together) we will need a an electric reference "titan" class grinder. For the last two Chicago/Milwaukee get togethers we had your Monolith Conical and Jim's Compak K10. I think this should be fine again but I will leave final decision to the experts like Jim and Dominick.

Selfishly, I would be interested since I have a Super Jolly with stock burrs. I am curious if its fickleness is in part due to alignment being off. Though I suspect it is just nature of the 64mm flat burrs and adjustment collar design. I'll try to read up on your SSP burr and alignment tips on HB in the interim.

But if you will be bringing your Monolith Conical, then please do not lug the Super Jolly too. That SJ is heavy and I hate carrying it and my Alexia and Cremina to my MIL's annual Christmas get together...Sorry I digress.

I'll bring the Monolith. If there's more interest in the Super Jolly then I'll bring that as well. If not, I'll leave it at home.

Thanks Prairiedawg for doing this. Original post #1 of this thread updated.

Please see PM sent to you (not posted to avoid thread drift).

Another request and this is potential need:
To be safe I am requesting a small lever (e.g. Cremina which is portable and not hernia inducing when carried). Two Cremina setup served just fine (IMO) at the Fall 2015 Chicago Milwaukee get together at another_jim residence.

At Pi day 2015 get together at my same place: Cremina, La Pavoni, Caravel, Portaspresso and QM Alexia did just fine for at least 9 persons.

As guests tend not to drink many milk based drinks, I think the Alexia with PID should be fine for source of proper micro foam milk and in reasonable amount of time. This includes if need two back to back milk frothing. I find proper micro foam frothing takes too long on Cremina (but can get it). That being said I have plenty of space and outlets for a proper sized boiler heat exchanger or dual boiler machine. But bring such a machine ONLY IF you the owner want to compare it or want others' opinion. I certainly do not want you to injure or strain yourself carrying such a machine (let alone fitting it into your automobile).

Thanks.

Michael, I'll bring Ethiopia Yirg variety, possibly Cheleltu and Thai Doi Pangkhton. I remember you liked both.

:)

Not to assume anything, please roast as you would like.

On PM with another_jim, he states he will bring same bean each roasted differently (one light roast and one espresso roast). The light roast will be subjected to the "VLT" (He-man pressure pull e.g. >12 bar, higher temperature, very fine grind) to see if it can mimic the taste of proper espresso roasted brewed under typical conditions..

Thank you in advance for your home professional roasts; initial post beans list updated.

Sounds like it will be a blast; I'm sad that I'll have to miss this one! Many thanks for the generosity of all who make these events special and our local community amazing. Many thanks in particular to this round's gracious host as well!
