Hi all, I'm looking for cafe recommendations for espressos in DC. Many thanks in advance!

Haven't been there in a few years, but I recommend:

- Slipstream - multiroaster with Onyx, Blanchards and a local DC roaster. Also has a bar/food

- A Baked Joint - multiroaster

- Lost Sock - Local roaster. Not a fan of the name, but my favorite in the DC area

The biggest local roaster is Small Planes. I was a fan of them when they first started, but haven't tried them since. Their coffee is in various cafes in the city.

All the above are solid. Also like dua coffee. Indonesian owned cafe focused on beans from the region

https://www.compasscoffee.com/

Focused more on blends and is a place better suited for your milk/sugar-based drinks but overall not too bad.

I highly recommend Sweet Science! Also if you venture outside the city a little Rare Bird and Swings are nice too.

Seconding this recommendation (with the caveat that it's been awhile for me); I used to work on the same block and having them so close was both amazing and dangerous. I can't recall ever getting a bad drink from them. I believe they're associated with Small Planes; when I first started going there, their bean choices were a mix of Counter Culture and Small Planes, but it was starting to be more heavily Small Planes by the time I moved away.

Yes, I also agree with this recommendation.

At the Union Market location, the young lady actually weighed out the dose and did a WDT...it was dialed in perfectly.
