Thanks
No sorry. I'm a 98mm guy.

Before the 98mm journey, I was impressed by Mahlkonig Kenia 65mm burrs. IMHO the mother of the SSP 64mm MP burrs.

Next step will may be the Ditting 120mm ;-)

what i meant was just because the burr isnt designed for espresso doesnt mean there wont be people who try..
take a look at fellow ode, a brew grinder that is still abused for espresso, or the lots of attempts to turn a hopper god grinder into single dosing. there will also those that thinks brew burrs give cleanest filter taste (or just read about it), and wants to use it for espresso.. then they send ssp a message "can you make this burr do espresso too? i dont want hu, lf or ulf. i want brew burr".

i do get your point, and i understand it is ridiculous from perspective of someone who understand and wants a specialty tools, but manufacturer also deals with lots of people who dont want to understand but still wants to be special.
Who do you blame when someone misuses a product? Wanting something that's optimal for brewed coffee, to also work on espresso is just crazy.

Hi guys,

I have a P100 with SSP HU and I'm using it only for espresso.
The burrs I prefer for espresso are the Cast from the Peak and the new version of the e80s. To me they are well balanced and super sweet (I did compare them to my P100 HU and my MC5 and they are far sweeter).
I would love to get as close as possible to the sweetness of the Cast burrs. So which 98mm would guys recommande?

Hi,
as I new owner of brew burrs (equipped in ek43s with titus carrier) I would be interested to read what kind of V60 recipes at which grind settings for which coffee do you prefer.

hey guys,

I like to change the burrs in my ek43s from SSP HU Burrs to "Brew Burrs" for filter, because I hardly drink any espresso anymore, just filter. Personally I enjoy HU for Espresso, but for brewing filter I lack a bit clarity and differentiation in flavors. Find the HUs have slightly too much body, coarser grind, lower temperature etc. result just in under-extraction. My guess is the amount of fines in the HUs is slightly too high.

So I try to figure out which burrs to consider/buy (also checking 2nd hand market) but the more I read about the topic the more I get confused. Do I get it right, there are:

- Original MK Pre2015
- SSP with cloned Pre2015 finishing (also called Cast??)
- SSP Brew Burrs (looks more like HU?)
- SSP Ultra low uniformity
- SSP low uniformity

Thanks for helping.

I have the old MK burrs the A series. I love them, but they are unicorns.
I have no experience with other 98mm burrs apart from new MK burrs.
I drink omni roasts from time to time but usually prefer lighter beans.
What is usually recommended for filter are the brew burrs or the new MK burrs reground to the ild A geometry.
If you have the current MK burrs sending them to Han and specifically asking for the old geometry should be about half the price than the brew burrs.
Others should speak of what exactly the differences are.

I recently asked SSP about pricing for getting my current EK burrs reground to pre 15 and it doesn't make sense anymore vs buying new SSP. He said $450 with return shipping. I would have to pay for shipping them to SSP and then they're very close to the $500 shipped for coated SSP pre 15 cast. It used to be like $200 for the regrind and that made more sense.

Other than that I can recommend Brew for the EK43S for filter, it's what I use and I really like them! I have also had HU, LU and ULF in my EK (and P100) and hopefully borrowing a set of SSP pre 15 cast From a friend very soon.
