SSP 98mm "Brewing" Burrs - Page 16
I agree about the difficulty of people's perceptions. Many many times In the tech / maintenance world, equipment is being blamed, when the problem is user error

I did send Hansung the used Pre15 burr set for reshaping.
And I also did send a Post15 burr set to change geometry to Pre15.
Both coated Silverknight.

And at the time of reshaping, I did also order a Brewing burr set from hansung.
This was in July 2021.
IMHO they have all more or less the same geometry. Of course the blank is different where pre-breaking-section is different.
I did also send Hansung a Post15 burr set in 2019 odr 2020 to reshape to a Pre15-similar-geometry. But it wasnt same as Pre15. The triangles where longer, more close to post15. Probably because of espresso. But I really don't know. And I don't know, if I have a picture somewhere...

Hello phil, thank you for the photos. They really help to put the different geometries/design of these burrs into perspective. Having tried all these, have you found any perceptible difference between them, especially for the reground burrs.

Ok. Check out here.
Both burrs were Original Post15.
Left: Burr was rehsaped around 2020. Hansung called it "Cast" and mentioned, it is something Pre15 style (where at this time I had no clue about Pr15 geometry).
Right: This burr was reshaped in July 2021 to Pre15 geometry by Hansung.
Very clear to see difference Pre15 and Cast.
I'm aware, there are many geometries all around with lot's of different names.
But I'm also sure Brewing burrs have same blnk as HU burrs. But outer shape is same as original Pre15 burrs.
And I'm also pretty sure, this Brewing burrs are made on request from and for Titus.
When you buy Brewing at Titus, probably the chance to get correct burrs are best

Of course yes.
With "Brewing" I got cleanest and sweetest cup. Hard to make Espresso. Almost impossible.
With reshaped Pre15 and coated by SSP the result was very close. Not as clean and not as sweet. Aftertaste on "Brewing" are a blast.
Good to make Espresso.
3rd the Post15 reshaped to Pre15 geometry. Not as good as the upper two. But for price.. I mean, easy to get.
The MK Original Pre15 were not as good as the upper 3 burrs. Very nice cups. But lack on sweetness and not very clean. Less analytic.
Not able to make Espresso- no chance.
The Cast ones... I can't remember really. I did sale when I got the Original Pre15. Because they where much better.
But also very nice.
But hey. Probably someone else would have made different experience. Because of different personal preferences on how a cup has to taste.
It seem SSP are not interested in re-cutting post 15 burrs to pre 15 now, I asked for that just a few days ago and he quoted me $450 including return shipping.
Their own Pre 15 Cast burrs cost $500 shipped, $450 without coating. It's now double the price than just a year or two ago, and I would have to pay for shipping my burrs to them first too.

Wow.
In 2021 listprice was:
. Brewing 98mm, 550$
. Change geometry to Pre15 98mm, 250$
Coating +50$
Shipping back to my county included.
Discount may is possible.
No matter. Quality is absolutely perfect. And burrs in my case will last for lifetime.
Every cup is tasty. Sweet. Balanced. Clean. With an endless aftertaste.
Beside:
Lately we compared my Brewing to 64mm MP SSP. Wow. This burrs are also crazy good.
But this is another topic.

Excellent and informative review. Have you tried or seen a comparison of the 64mm gen 2 stock burrs against the 64mm ssp cast burrs for pourover.
Thanks
