V60 bloom stirring
by
neohk » Nov 21, 2019, 10:24 pm
Some advocates using a set number of stir/folding grinds into bloom water whereas I do it rather vigorously, a bit like excavating the blooming grounds and getting to the bottom the filter
Does anything think that would clog the filter, as I don't seem to find that to be the...

Fellow Stagg XF Dripper
by
TomC » Apr 04, 2019, 6:38 pm
I couldn't pass up the chance to pick up this Stagg XF from a fellow HB'er right here in the city and I'm glad I did.
I bought it with the plans of taking it into work to use as the filter for my Ratio 8 in the office. The tall, narrower vertical column seemed ideal for the...

Blooming French Press
by
MntnMan62 » Nov 21, 2019, 9:31 am
Yesterday and today I tried to test the effectiveness of blooming during my morning french press regimen. Yesterday's coffee was made without doing any bloom. I just poured the entire 300 grams of water into the 23 grams of coffee all at once and let it brew for 4 minutes. This...

Technivorm aftermarket showerhead cover
by
mojoit » Feb 28, 2018, 9:42 am
For those few of you who use a Moccamaster with the aftermarket showerhead from ArtisanSmith, I've designed a basket cover to help combat the brew water temperature loss I've observed with it. For reference, I have an older KBT 741 with the circular-bottom manual brew basket....

Any Karlsbad brewer fans here?
by
pumpkinscastle » Oct 19, 2019, 12:50 pm
I have been using the medium-sized Karlsbad device made by Walkuere for many years now. For the most part, it is not only my favorite drip device but also the only one that I will touch. I love the rich extraction the cake filter above the porcelain grid gives, situation the...

by
BAEvans » Aug 15, 2019, 12:28 pm
Need some advice on using new 2 cup Brikka Moka pot.
Following the instructions, but not seeing coffee starting to flow after a couple of minutes into upper compartment, but rather an explosion of coffee into it after 3 minutes with steam, coughing, and bubbling simultaneously,...

Ibrik coffee - Traditional Greek Aroma Challenge
by
Tony Greco » Nov 02, 2019, 2:50 pm
Hello,
My favourite alternative brew method is Ibrik. I grew up with Greek Coffee, which is what we called it at home. Lately I have been digging deeper, read a lot of great threads on this forum, trying different types of beans.
By using fresher, better beans, the results...

Hello,
I was wondering if all you could give me some suggestions about Pocket coffee densitometers. There are some in Amazon like: PAL-COFFEE (BX / TDS) From import JPN; but for me seems to be very expensive. Any suggestions?

'New' Tetsu Kasuya V60 method (with [VIDEO])
by
baldheadracing » Nov 03, 2019, 7:06 pm
Haven't seen this discussed here - the method is still under development, but the idea is to emphasis the sweetness in coffee:
- coffee roasted as an omni-roast
- 1:12 brew ratio
- 25g ground very fine(!) 5 on an EK
- 95C/96C water (203F/205F)
- 300g water poured in 15...
