I picked up a few of those brass restrictors for the buono. They work well, but only for a little if you have hard water. Mine clogged up in about 3 weeks - talk about restricted flow! I soaked it overnight in a very strong citric acid solution, didn't fix it. Bummer.

Would this happen to the barismo ones?

Definitely not. The Teflon gicleur just makes for a smaller output hole at the base, whereas the brass one looks more like a fine mesh screen, which seems more prone to clogging. I have had a restrictor in some of my kettles for over a year without taking them out and no resultant change in flow rate.

I've had much better luck with undiluted white vinegar when it comes to removing scale/mineral deposits from jets, vacuum valves, ect. Works fine cold unlike the citric acid solutions.

I used the Espresso Parts brass restrictor in my Buono for quite a while with no clogging issues. Though I'd probably try soaking it in an Oxy Clean solution if I did.
