Fuji Royal R-220 - Page 2
bump, I found their distributer in Taiwan. But I think the shipping is going to be pretty expensive. Is there any retailer in the US has it here already?
International shipping to US is about $80. I do not know of any US distributor.
A similar model by Kalita called Nice Cut (possibly rebadged as Jericho KH-100) was available in the US a few years back. It is still manufactured by Kalita and the list price is less than the Fuji Royal. Apparently the Kalita also comes with "crushing" instead of "cutting" burrs. I spend way too much time deciphering the Japanese descriptions and decided to just get the Fuji Royal.
If inclined, although amazon.jp does not ship internationally, items can be shipped to a forwarding service with local Japanese address like tenso.com, then shipped to the US. The web pages are even in English.
Cost wise, a used Bunn bulk grinder is less expensive, but not kitchen counter friendly.

Thanks for the information.
Kalita Nice Cut is a burr grinder. http://mayaroast.pixnet.net/blog/post/26555199 here is some info comparing Nice Cut with Fuji R-440. The page is in Chinese though,
.
There are 2 more burr grinder available in Taiwan and both of them are cheaper at around ~$120US. Here are some info on both, http://coffeeclub.orsir.com.tw/modules/ ... 74&forum=6 Again the information in in Chinese though.

Now I am completly confused!!!
Is the Kalita Nice cut (Jericho KH-100) a cutter grinder or a ghost teeth grinder? The links above only show the burrs of other grinders...

I'm totally confused also. Please give me the Fuji distributors link, so I can ask my Taiwan connection to check it out. Also which Flying Horse grinder are you interested in?

This is the distributor in Taiwan for the Royal http://www.fengjen.com.tw/home_CODU.htm .
Sorry, me bad for the not being clear.
The Fuji Royal R-220 comes in two types of burrs, the "ghost teeth/crushing", and "cutting" models. The base model is the "ghost teeth" model, and the one to get for drip/siphon. Even in Japanses web sites, this is not quite so clear. The cutting model costs slightly more. The R-440 comes in ghost teeth. For a while I considered the R-220"P", but it only comes with cutting burrs (found out by direct communication with the manufacturer).
Here is the Fuji Royal web site:
http://www.fujiko-ki.co.jp/mill.htm
The Kalita "Nice Cut" comes in cutting type burrs, and many like the flavor profile. Because the Kalita Nice Cut is only about 1/2 the price of the Fuji Royal R-220 "cutting" burr model, and the rotation is an ever so slow, approximateoly 400rpm, some prefer this model over the Fuji Royal R-220.
Here is the Kalita web site:

The larger Kalita comes with the "ghost teeth" burrs, the model 61007.
The Taiwanese brand Flying Eagle also makes similar grinder. The CM-300AU is similar to Kalita Nice Cut and Fuji Royal R220 cutting. The CM-520 is the ghost teeth. Web site here:
http://www.you-wei.com/c/product01.htm
Yang Chia, the maker of Mini 500, also makes grinders. The 600N is similar to CM-300AU/Nice Cut/R220 Cutting. I don't know if 206N or 207N comes with ghost teeth:

Thanks for the link to Fengjen. It appears they have an office in Hacienda Heights, California. I'll give them a call to check if they actually have any of these grinders in stock.
