It would be great if you could check how closely it hits the set point at 50% and 25% full. The Pino starts to overshoot wildly as you empty it.

I watched it tonight while it took 500 mL up to 205 F starting at 10:32 EST with 73 F water:

Temps Measured in Fahrenheit:

140 in 1:30 min
175 in 2:24 min
185 in 2:45 min
200 in 3:18 min
205 in 3:47 min
206 at 4:00 min (slight overshoot)
205 F again at 4:45 min

...then 204 F, 203 F, 204 F, and 205 F (mostly 204 F) for the next twenty minutes.

I took 250 mL out of the kettle, making a cup of coffee using Mt Air Roasting's (from H-B member endlesscycles) Rwanda Coko Coop in my CCD - in the name of science, of course. :D

The lowest temp with 250 mL left has been 202 (once) and the highest was 208 (twice) along with the occasional 203 or 207. Still 204, 205 and 206 are the most common numbers on the screen over the past 20 minutes.

Get thee a water heater/boiler. Zojirushi is one of the better known manufacturers, as is Tiger. I can think of few better things to keep in a kitchen if you have the need for immediate near-boiling water. Mine, however, has been retired since I don't have the need for instant near-boiling water on command.

I've been reduced to an electric kettle for larger quantities and my machine's steam wand for smaller quantities.

That is rather significantly better than the Pino kettle I have. I'll be buying one of these as soon as they're available.

Sherman, that is really what I have wanted, but my wife will resist anything bigger. She already complains about the machines I do have on the counter. One of these days I will build an espresso bar!

Chris ... I noticed the same thing with my Pino. I find that if I apply slight pressure and rotate it on its base, it settles right down. I'm guessing that there's some slight oxidation occurring on the kettle and/or base contacts, consequently causing the erratic readings. I plan to try applying a little electrolytic grease to the contacts of both the base of the kettle and the base itself to see if it eliminates/reduces the erratic temp readings.

Most of their size is in the height, so the footprint on the counter is actually pretty small. My 4L Zoji hot water boiler doesn't really occupy much more counter space than the Pino kettle's base.

Kettle looks interesting, but pales in comparison to what I have at home:

Zojirushi Water Boiler:

This thing is awesome and have hot water ready to dispense any time. I use it for tea, coffee and warming infant formula. My Zojirushi is a different model and over 10 year old, still function like it did at day 1.

My wife has used her Zojirushi for years for her tea. But, with a choice of 208 or 195F, you may have trouble reaching your sweet spot for coffee.

If your pot is dispensing at 208F, it'll drop by the time it hits your vessel. When I was using my water boiler, the 208 setting routinely turned into 203 by the time it hit the grounds.
