Rotating WDT tool - Page 2
Yes, they rotate around like the two you mentioned. There is a video by Hoon's coffee for the v1 but I'm personally not a fan of his content so refrained from linking it. I found the original Reddit post where I found it.
The seller got back to me. He is moving currently so paused production.

Could you clarify. In the video it appears the center needles are stationary. Is this the case?cebseb wrote:There's a file up on Thingiverse:

It works great.

While the one shown on Thingverse is likely fine, the link in the first post to the one for sale shows a much more sophisticated design. Hard to say if it matters.
Yes, the center pins rotate, that's what drives the outer pins as the shell is fixed to the portafilter.

This one is pretty cool as well. My only gripe from a usability perspective is if you use multiple baskets/dosage sizes/funnels. You need variable depth of the needles to accommodate those parameters.
I agree and that was what drew me to order the first one from etsy. Not only do the needles circle around the poira wrote:While the one shown on Thingverse is likely fine, the link in the first post to the one for sale shows a much more sophisticated design. Hard to say if it matters.

rtafilter, they also rotate where they are thereby simulating a wdt manual routine. This is not the case with the duomo device that seems to only send the needles on a circle around the portilter centre without rotating those needles in place.
In addition although the thingiverse one rotates the needles while causing them to orbit, the rotations always stay in the same place. As a result the spaces between the areas covered by the rotations never get agitated and the centre of the portafilter may form a well instead. The mechanism of the etsy one on the other hand is made up of gears of different sizes, which causes the rotation circles formed by each gear to change position as the entire device is rotated around the portafilter.

Don't waste your money. I did it for you. The design only rotates counter clockwise. It does not fit the portifilter well. However it seems upon looking at the puck after using it that it does a good job. Well, it does not, it causes more channeling then it does prevent. My grinder is special though, and normally doesn't need any Wdt etc. but I wanted to try this for you all. I would not buy it again, and I prob will not use it again. Traditional Wdt with a levercraft or similar works much better.
If you want it I'll sell it to you for your own experiments. Make an offer you pay shipping.
Designer reached out to me offering to send a replacement which was very nice. He has a new design so I'll try that and report back.

Family, coffee and fun.
That's a disappointing result. Mine still has not reached me yet as its international postage so I will report once I get it and have tried to use itPlinyyounger wrote:Don't waste your money. I have to post an update to be fair. The designer sent me the new iteration since I was disappointed in the first one they designed. It is much better designed to say the least. It fits the portafilter better, the needles adjust pretty easily and the rotation goes in either direction. So I'll try it in the morning and let you know if the shots(s) pull evenly.
