Hello everyone,

Can you recommend a quality automatic or semi-automatic propane-powered espresso machine available on the US market? Astoria offers a lever one, but this is not what I need. Maybe one with a conversion kit at least?

Thank you in advance.

Kaldi has an Astoria Perla AEP2 in North Carolina. That what you're looking for?

Thank you, I saw it. The problem is Astoria doesn't offer this machine in the US, I've checked with them. So either this is a scam, outdated information, or a grey import that will come without warranty, service, or parts. If so, I can get Astoria Tanya in Europe for half the price with the same set of problems.

A couple of updates:

Found one from Wega, another from Rancilio. Both are special order, both are not ETL certified and so far it is unclear if they will be accepted by the local Dept of Health. Awaiting the response.

The one on Kaldi was outdated info, they took it down now.

Overall, due to low demand manufacturers pulling gas equipment and not certifying the new one. Only level machines are available. A shame.

Mike,

Did you ever find a machine? I don't believe you need ETL for health department only NSF.

I highly recommend a Propane powered lever machine as you won't need to have power run for it except for the autofill which you can bypass anyway by managing the manual fill valve and connect to a battery powered or 110v low amp powered Flojet pump.

Astoria makes the Gloria AL line in 1-3 group sizes. Nice thing is you can keep the electric heating element in there and so you can plug in when you are indoors.

Rancilio does make it but they are hard to manage the temps with their design. The Gloria is a dipper type machine.

There are also older machines you can find.
