Vibe pumps have a duty cycle, usually 1-minute on max and 50/50 duty, so 1-minute off before recycling. Rotary pumps don't have this limitation. I'm guessing that they can run for extended periods without damage, but I don't know if there is a limit to this.

I'd like to know if doing very long PI (30 seconds or more) will have damaging effect on the pump or is it safe to do.
Is it the same effect for vibration and rotary pump ?

TIA
Rotary pumps are fine with running for 60-90 seconds. Vibe pumps are not speced to run for more than 60 seconds. However replacing a vibe pump is a $30-60 part where a rotary pump is $300+. Personally if I ever get to a place where I find running shots for 60 seconds or more is benifical for the coffee I want to drink I'll just eat the replacement cost of a vibe pump.
