Checking used 2013 La Marzocco GS3 AV
Hi everyone, I have an opportunity to purchase a 2011 GS3 AV that has been lightly used in a home setting only.
Just wondering if there is anything I should be wary of and what a fair price for this old of a machine would be.
I'd be upgrading from a Synchronika.
TIA

How to price used espresso equipment offers helpful suggestions. There's quite a few GS/3 listings in the buy/sell too; click here.

Hi everyone,
I'm looking at picking up a 2013 GS3 and when I viewed the machine I noticed that the steam and water wands will not rotate. This doesn't seem normal. The steam wand water seems to work well but the wands are just stuck in position. Is this a cause for concern? Any idea on how I could free these up?
Thanks

Hmm-m, the wands of current models rotate on a swivel joint; I don't know about the 2013 model year, though an owner in the forum could confirm (as Chris Tacy noted in Prototype La Marzocco GS3, the one way back then did not). If they do have swivel joints, it could be as simple as needing lubrication or a valve rebuild. But something as basic as that not working isn't encouraging.

Even so.
The original production models in 2007-2008 had plastic housings on the ball joints which were updated to stainless steel within the first few years. Regardless of the manufacturer date, the wands should articulate with relative ease.
Cheers!
