As an Alfa Romeo owner the logo catches my eye....

It says it has a timer and adjustable setting but I can not see any controls. Does the portafilter sit below the outlet like it does on the Breville?

The timer knob is on the side you can't see.
The outlet sits above your portfilter. The portafilter hits a mechanical button for the grinds to come out. I have a non timer model so I don't know the exact details on how this one works
