Ok - so I need a grinder. Domestic = household use.
Parameters:
1. Produces high-quality, highly repeatable espresso grinding, with a variety of coffee types.
2. Amenable to single dosing. I change coffees a couple of times through the day. Usually, I dial in, write the settings down and reset the grinder when switching. Would like it to do the same thing next time the machine is set to that grind with that bean.
3. Fits under domestic kitchen cabinets. (under 17.5" height).
4. Low retention (single dosing).
5. Don't care about the price, high? Low? In-between?
(availability) Get it now?

As I really like unimodal grinders, I'd wait to see what the flat burr Monolith has to offer. Not sure if an EG-1 could fit under normal cabinets, I never really got a great sense of scale on it, but possibly that too.

The Titus is made in Germany. OP said "best domestic"
Oops - I get it, domestic as in "not commercial".

Other than OE and Baratza, are there really any other "domestic" grinders?

A few come to mind, "domestic" doesn't mean "affordable". Nor is commercial mutually exclusive with domestic if it still checks all the right boxes. Titus, Monolith, HG-1, EG-1, Versalab, Mahlgut, that limited run miniature EK43, and that's just whats on the top of my head, there's probably more.

I didn't think Titus was domestic. Looks like its German. Looks like Mahlgut is German as well. But I guess Monolith, Versalab, and LWW's HG-1 and EG-1 could be on the list.

I think only Versalab and Monolith are made in USA, HG-1 I think is made in China, EG-1 it seems either Taiwan or China.

Folks, I could be wrong... But by domestic I think the OP meant suitable for home use.

I think domestic means it fits in the home. Titus fits that bill, but what's the order lead time?nuketopia wrote:Parameters:
