I've you're willing to spend the money, and if you think that uncoated copper is a safer brewer material than plastic, you can order one from Australia.

I've seen that before, and I think it's kind of wonderful (and beautiful). But, I would have significant misgivings about brewing in copper (more, I think, than brewing in the plastic that the Aeropress is made of), especially since I have a strong preference for light roasts, which are often quite acidic. On the other hand, hot water is piped to my sink in copper, though my tap water is pretty alkaline (shrug).

I try to aim for inert materials - glass, high-fire ceramic, stainless steel, and until I hear otherwise, silicone.

ETA: One other reason for this - plastic retains odors. After I clean coffee equipment made from inert materials, they do not smell of coffee, which is a consideration for me, as I live with a coffee-hater. My Aeropress, regardless of how I wash it, smells of coffee. It seems like it must impart flavors to the finished brew (though I've never found it to be off-putting).

I have no interest, financial or otherwise, in Artisansmith or this product, just passing along the info as it hits my Instagram stream.

Wow. I am so tempted even though I don't do brew coffee nowadays. No patent issue there?

Maybe one of our lawyers can weigh in?
If it can use the Aeropress filters then ya gotta suspect there is if Aerobie can be bothered protecting it against a small maker.

Edit: Seems pretty slam-dunk that it'd infringe if borders aren't an issue... https://www.google.com.au/patents/US7849784

The rubber cap has been replaced by an o-ring.

I've wondered why this wasn't the approach used by Aerobie, especially after seeing how well it works in the Bobble press. What would Adler would say?
